Dock Crawl
I was very happy to see a full parking lot last weekend. Don't waste those sunny days folks! The water is still warm and the fall foliage is just gorgeous. We found lots of new boaters this month and they are already adding to the atmosphere around here. The Dock Crawl put on by the Northern Virginia Boaters Group was fantastic last Saturday. We got just good enough weather that the band started up around 5 PM. They played until well after dark and we had about 75 people in attendance. Food was served potluck and boy oh boy was it good! We also found out that 9 people can sleep in the forward berth of a 330. Thanks to Mike and Marylin for the research and thanks to them, the Lynch's, Ballingers, and all the people who pitched in to make it fun.

Ethanol-Blended Gasoline
Many people have called in concerned about ethanol in their fuel. To me the only real serious situation is with my old boat "Hardshell" because she has a fiberglass fuel tank. For the rest of us, Volvo Penta's bulletin dated May 2006, downloadable in pdf format, will reassure and give us guidelines.

Update 10/3/06: Mike Samphilipo sent me an excellent link to Mercury Marine's explanation about ethanol issues.

R&R
I'll be on vacation the week of Sept. 23–Oct. 1 but when I get back we'll have a new newsletter containing photos of the Dock Crawl, reviews of the new models from Chaparral and Cobalt, and downloadable winterization menus. Those will be mailed on or about 9/25. Be sure to get your sheets in to Terry ASAP and call or email with questions.

That's all for now!

Joe
